The traditional approach to home building or major remodeling projects starts with the owner seeking an architect to design the project. Once the architect is selected, they proceed in designing the project. Once plans are finalized they are put out for bid.
While many architects are able to offer some preliminary budget estimates, most are not able to accurately estimate building costs. As a result, it is often the case that all the bids for the project come in well over budget. At best, the project must be redesigned and at worst the entire project may be abandoned.
The Design / Build approach eliminates this risk by the owner, architect and builder collaborating from the very inception of the project. We utilize a design team including architects and engineers as well as our project estimator and builder who know first hand what methods and materials cost in the field.
While the owner is expressing their goals for the project and the architect is designing solutions the builder is providing value engineering solutions and cost implication information to inform the process. This collaboration leads to a more efficient project delivery and avoids the information lag that can turn lost time into wasted money.
